Eth Kaplan Bongar will perform her show Jews Don't Join the Circus at the Where Eagles Dare Theatre (347 West 36th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues) for three performances from July 26th through August 6th. Directed by Cheryl King, it will run as part of the New York International Theatre Festival (FringeNYC).
Bongar "is a comedian, a clown, a director, a producer, a juggler, a performance artist, a daughter, a sister, a mother and a woman," state press notes. "It's the being a woman part that is particularly highlighted in her brutally honest, pitch-perfect and hysterically funny balancing act," state press notes on
Jews Don't Join the Circus. "Well they do. Just ask Beth. Then ask her why she joined up. Then ask her what she did when she got there and they let her into the center ring."
"Beth was born into a devastatingly unique family with whom she lived for eighteen years before escaping to the circus. Before 'joining up,' Beth always believed the advertisements that described the circus as being 'The Greatest Show on Earth.' Three months into her 'run' she discovered that claim was false. It was her family that deserved that label. This show is about Beth's juggling act between the two greatest shows on Earth and the 'life' she snuck in amongst the battles."
The show will play Wednesday, July 26th at 8:30 PM, Sunday, July 30th at 4:15 PM and Sunday, August 6th at 11:45 AM.
Tickets to all shows are $18.00, and $15.00 for students and seniors. Reservations can be made by calling 212-868-4444 or by going to
