Clean, a new comedy by Bob Epstein, will debut at Urban Stages (259 West 30th Street), on June 16th with the official opening on June 19th. The limited Equity engagement continues through July 1st.
Directed by Christopher Maring, "this fantastical comedy finds Digby, the spoiled daughter of a wealthy industrialist, on an enlightening LIRR journey to the chic Hamptons. When her daddy is busted for shady business dealings, Digby turns to a quirky entertainment lawyer and an undercover FBI agent (who may be just plain crazy) to prove his innocence and preserve her privileged way of life. Sometimes it's dirty work keeping clean," state press notes.
The cast includes Albert Insinnia (original B'way cast of
Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Me Nobody Knows, Jacques Brel..., Grease, "M*A*S*H"), Karl Jacob, John Kudan ("Law & Order"), Nancy Rodriguez (
Bernarda Alba, Romeo and Juliet), Cherene Snow (Mint Theatre, Signature Theatre, Ford's), Bjorn Thorstad (
Midsummer Night's Dream, To Kill a Mockingbird) and Sarah Viccellio as the industrialist's daughter.
Epstein produced and wrote the feature film
The Gauguin Museum, which
has been seen at Slamdance and SXSW Film Festivals. He was the
executive music producer for the film
The Next Big Thing, in which he
also appeared. Maring has directed at Williamstown Theatre Festival,
Prospect Theater Company and Emerging Artists Theater. He was the
recipient of an SDCFoundation Observership with
Jerry Zaks and is a
member of Lincoln Center Theatre's Directors Lab.
The set has been designed by Sarah Pearline with lighting by Amith Chandrashaker, costumes by Katherine Hampton Noland, sound by Tim Cramer, projection design by Katy Tucker and fight choreography by Jacob Grigolia-Rosenbaum.
