Blue Note Emerging Artist Series Welcomes Vocalist Shoshana Bush Tonight

Tonight, November 20th, the Blue Note Emerging Artist Series presents Shoshana Bush. The series is designed to give young up and coming musicians the opportunity to perform at the renowned Jazz venue as an opening act for jazz legends. Shoshana Bush performs one show from 6:30 - 7:30pm as an opening act for Jane Monheit. Attending Bush's performance will provide access to Jane Monheit's 8:00PM set at no additional cost. Accompanying Bush are Isamu McGregor (piano) and Brian Holtz (bass).

Bush recently released her debut CD, Shoshana Bush and Friends Live at Catalina Jazz. She funded her recording project through a successful Kickstarter campaign mounted in Fall 2012. The album of (mainly) Great American Songbook tunes is available now at ShoshanaBushMusic.com as well as Amazon, iTunes and other traditional and online retailers.

Bush, a New York resident and a graduate of Columbia University's Jazz Studies program, has appeared several times at Birdland's Jazz Party. The upcoming Blue Note appearance will be her first there. In addition, she gigs regularly at, among other places, Core Club, Lambs Club, La Petite Abeille, Jules Bistro, Apotheke, Eventi, Anyway Café, and many more swank spots and jazz joints.

She has kept a foot rooted in the music scene of her native Los Angeles with several sold out Catalina Jazz shows, and many Vitello's performances to her credit. She cites her main influences as Nina Simone Blossom Dearie and Ahmad Jamal, yet her eclectic musical interests include not only jazz and an unabashed commitment to classic American Songbook, but musical projects much further afield. They include active writing and recording projects with L.A. based Hip Hop ensemble, Maya Angeles (formerly Welcome to the Ice Age), as well as electronic duo Blue Green Grey. Maya Angeles released a digital single in January 2013 (Mansionz).
