Variety is reporting that Blue Man Group has signed a contract with producer Charlotte Huggins to star in a film that will be released in Imax 3-D.

The original Blue Man stage trio of Matt Goldman, Chris Wink and Phil Stanton will be featured in the film which set to start shooting in June of 2009 and aiming for a release of June 2010.

Variety reports that the movie will apparently not be the same as the original production (which currently plays in over a dozen cities worldwide). The movie will have different structure and new material specifically geared toward 3-D film viewing.

Matt Goldman said, " "It's going to have a story, believe it or not. It's going to have real science content, and we're excited about being in the neuroscience space."

"We had a lot of ideas of things coming at you, splashing of paint, explosions of color," he added. "It's a complete mesh of everything that we love."
