Bloomingdale School Of Music Presents THREE VOICES OF PASSACAGLIA

Bloomingdale School of Music (BSM) is pleased to continue its concert series shining a light on its gifted faculty of teaching artists with Three Voices of Passacaglia on Friday, April 13th at 7:00 pm. Led by string faculty member Naho Parrini on violin, the concert will be held at the school's home site located at 323 West 108th Street between Broadway and Riverside Drive in Manhattan. Seating is limited.

BSM violin faculty member Naho Parrini performs a concert exploring the fascinating passacaglia form with music from the 18th to the 20th centuries. The repertoire for the concert with include Bach's masterful Chaconne for solo violin as well as Shostakovich's haunting Piano Trio No.2. Joining Ms. Parrini will be her colleague Tim McCullough on piano along with Guest Artist Alberto Parrini on cello.

Naho Parrini, * BSM Faculty, Violin

Violinist Naho Parrini, a native of Japan is a member of South Country Concerts, the Contemporary Chamber Players and the Booklyn Chamber Players and has collaborated in performances with distinguished artists such as Colin Carr and members of the Emerson and Mendelssohn String Quartets. Ms. Parrini has given recitals throughout the United States and Japan and soloed with the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the North Carolina School of the Arts and Master of Music Doctorate of Musical Arts at SUNY at Stony Brook. Her principal teachers include Kevin Lawrence, Mitchell Stern and Philip Setzer. She is a professor of violin at the Bloomingdale School of Music and the Kinhaven Music School in Vermont.

Alberto Parrini, Guest Artist, Cello

Born in Italy, cellist Alberto Parrini has been principal cellist of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic since 2007 and performs regularly with the American Symphony, New York Philharmonic and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. As a founding member of the Zukofsky Quartet he has given performances of the complete string quartets of Milton Babbitt in New York and Chicago. He performed throughout the U.S. with the American Chamber Players from 2004 to 2010, was the cellist of the St. Lawrence String Quartet in 2002-03 and spent one season as assistant principal cellist with the Richmond Symphony. Alberto has toured extensively with Mikhail Baryshnikov and the White Oak Dance Project and performed with Continuum, New Jersey Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra and Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra. His festival appearances include Evian, Tanglewood, Taos, Verbier, Ottawa, Montreal, San Miguel de Allende, Spoleto U.S.A., Music@Menlo, The Weekend of Chamber Music and the Piatigorsky seminar. His principal studies were with Timothy Eddy, Joel Krosnick, David Soyer, Colin Carr and Enrico Egano; he is a graduate of the Curtis Institute and the Juilliard School.

Tim McCullough, Piano

Pianist Tim McCullough was born in Cardiff, Wales into a musical family. He considers himself fortunate to have a father who is a very accomplished pianist. By the time he was about six weeks old he had already heard a whole host of beautiful piano literature. As a result he grew up swimming in the sound of piano music. At age eight his family relocated to Dallas, Texas and he later moved to New York to pursue graduate piano studies. He received his B.M from the University of Texas and his M.M from Manhattan School of Music. Although he can't choose one favorite composer, he particularly enjoys playing the music of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, and Messiaen.
