Bloomberg News, based in New York City, underwent a company-wide reorganization on November 18, according to the LA Times. After deciding that it needed to downsize, Bloomberg chose to shut down Muse, its section of arts and cultural related journalism, and in doing so laid off theater critic Jeremy Gerard.

His last review was for Broadway's "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder," and he soon after tweeted: "Bloomberg News ended its culture coverage today. Godspeed to all my great colleagues."

Gerard's claim was disputed by Manuela Hoelterhoff, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist. Hoelterhoff has been working as an editor for Muse for eight years. Even though Muse has been shut down, she will continue to work for Bloomberg but in another department. Hoelterhoff states that Bloomberg will continue its arts coverage, but that it will just be in a different way.

The LA Times reported that Bloomberg Editor-in-Chief Matt Winkler stated in an email that the arts will continue to be covered, but in its luxury section.
