Winter Jam NYC snow preparations kicked off on Thursday when the snow guns began the blizzard in Central Park. The white-out runs throughout the week as the weather allows-temperatures 32°F or below-to create a blanket of two feet for Winter Jam NYC 2010 Saturday, February 6th.  Enter at 72nd Street and head south toward Sheep Meadow to join in the festivities.

Provided by Parks' partners at the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) and I Love NY, snowmaking is the essential ingredient to wintry Winter Jam NYC activities at the Lake Placid snowfield such as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, skiing and snowboarding.

Activities that are not snow-dependent are also on the schedule this year. The high-flying Skyriders will perform trampoline tricks on skis and snowboards. Amateur snowboarders can take to the rails for the Switch Academy Rail Jam competition, judged by Red Bull-endorsed professional snowboarder Pat Moore. Participants can warm up with free samples from the Pride of New York Winter Market featuring local producers and visit their favorite winter sports vendors. Activities for all ages include the New York Rangers Road Tour, featuring the Inflatable Slap Shot Booth and Bounce House, and more.

Winter Jam NYC is free and open to the public on Saturday, February 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. The event is presented by ORDA, Lake Placid, New York Post, Mountain Creek Ski Resort, Switch Academy, Gore Mountain, Gear to Go Outfitters, New York Rangers, I Ski NY, 101.9 WQXR, Pride of New York, Red Bull's Project X and Iloveny.com.
