Judy Blazer, Gregg Edelman, Megan McGinnis and Mark Richard Ford will take audiences through a jangly tour of neurotic musical theatre songs in Crazy Rhythms, presented on May 6th and 7th at 3 PM at the Museum of the City of New York.
The concert coincides with MCNY's exhibit "On the Couch: Cartoons from the
New Yorker," which showcases psychoanalytically themed cartoons dating from 1927 to the present day. The exhibit, which opened on April 6th and runs through July 23rd, celebrates the 150th birthday of Sigmund Freud (whose influence can be traced in musicals such as
Lady in the Dark and
Falsettos), as well. Michael Montel wrote and directs
Crazy Rhythms, which will feature songs by the Gershwins, Kurt Weill,
Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter, Frank Loesser and more. Lawrence Yurman will serve as musical director.
Blazer has appeared on Broadway in
45 Seconds from Broadway, Titanic, A Change in the Heir and
Me and My Girl, as well as Off-Broadway in
Hello Again. Edelman is a four-time Tony-nominee who has appeared in
Wonderful Town, Into the Woods, 1776, City of Angels, Cabaret, Falsettos, Anything Goes and more. McGinnis who last appeared on Broadway as Beth in
