Blackwood Players announce auditions for The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery, directed by Erik Strauts. Auditions will be held at BLACKWOOD 21 (formerly Blackwood MemoriAl Hall) 21 Coromandel Parade, Blackwood 6.30pm Sunday 25th October and 7:30pm Tuesday 27th October (if not available Sunday). The show, which is looking for a cast of 5 Females (20s to 60s) and 1 Male (adult), is scheduled to be performed 5th to 20th February, 2010.
The play is a farce, essentially a send-up of amateur theatre. The FAHETGDS is a group of women who, not being able to get parts in other amateur group productions, have formed their own group. Their lack of theatrical skills is more than made up for by their enthusiasm. Their hearts are in the right place. The play is full of both verbal humour and physical comedy as nothing works that way it should. The key component is that the actors must be able to convincingly portray “bad” actors. For this we need GOOD actors. The play uses a variety of technical effects (light, sound, backstage events).
