Natalie Douglas Tributes: Elvis
The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to announce that singer Natalie Douglas will return to the historic music room with more "Tributes!" On Monday, April 9 at 7pm, she will celebrate the music and magic of the one and only Elvis Presley. With Music Directors, Mark Hartman & Brian Nash, and her band of all-star musicians, Natalie will celebrate the artistry, brilliance & singular achievements of four legendary influences: on April 9th, the much-adored trailblazer & icon, Elvis Presley; on May 14th, the sublime & beloved "First Lady of Song" Ella Fitzgerald; on June 18th, the glamour & drama of Dame Shirley Bassey; and on July 16th, the timeless Goddess of Pop, Cher.

Jim Caruso's Cast Party
Jim Caruso's Cast Party is a wildly popular weekly soiree that brings a sprinkling of Broadway glitz and urbane wit to the legendary Birdland in New York City every Monday night. It's a cool cabaret night-out enlivened by a hilariously impromptu variety show. Showbiz superstars, backed by Steve Doyle on bass, Billy Stritch on piano and Daniel Glass on drums, hit the stage alongside up-and-comers, serving up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle.

Eliane Elias
Multi GRAMMY winner Eliane Elias' April 2018 release, "Music from Man of La Mancha" on Concord Records features Eliane's interpretation of the music of this 5 Tony Award winning musical including the hit "The Impossible Dream". The album, which was recorded years ago, has never before been released and was produced by Eliane Elias and the late Mitch Leigh, the composer of all the music in the musical and film that featured Oscar winners Sophia Loren and Peter O' Toole. When Leigh commissioned the work, he specifically looked for Eliane to interpret, arrange and record his songs as an instrumental LATIN Jazz album in her own inimitable way. For the release week at Birdland, Eliane will be on piano and vocals presenting some of her best loved Brazilian repertoire as well as music from the new CD.

David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band
Inspired by the noble jazz pioneers Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton and their colleagues, David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band breathes life and passion into America's own great art form. Now in its 14th year of residency at Birdland, the weekly post-workday engagement is the city's best musical bargain! Tuba player David Ostwald leads a rotating lineup that features talents such as clarinetist Anat Cohen, trombonist/vocalist Wycliffe Gordon, pianist Ehud Asherie, drummer Marion Felder and more!

Yoav Eshed
LandEscape is an exciting journey of guitar and double-bass duo, two storytelling jazz musicians with an innovative playing and a deep exciting sound. Simón Willson is a Chilean born, Brooklyn based bassist and composer. As an eclectic and in demand sideman, he has toured with a host of different artists and co-leads the groups Great on Paper and Earprint. Yoav Eshed is an award-winning guitarist and composer originally from Israel, based in Brooklyn, NY. Yoav started to play the piano at the age of 3 and displayed prodigious abilities playing Haydn, Bach and Mendelssohn. Picked up the guitar at the age of 13 and since then has been performing around the world with top Israeli jazz musicians.

Joining Eric will be eminent bassist/composer Sean Smith -- in all, a perfect winter Saturday supper!

ALON & JOCA
Duo ALON & JOCA is an encounter between two eclectic and virtuoso musicians, Israeli pianist/composer and arranger Alon Yavnai & Brazilian singer/songwriter & percussionist Joca Perpignan. The long and special connection between them makes their music deep and unique. Their international career experience brings to their music a variety of influences from around the globe, which reflects in their original compositions and arrangements, creating an exciting and boundless music. Celebrating their new recording with the renowned NDR Bigband in Hamburg, ALON & JOCA are performing one show at Birdland, as part of their U.S tour.

The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra
Grammy Award winning pianist, composer and educator Arturo O'Farrill -- leader of the "first family of Afro-Cuban Jazz" (NY Times) -- was born in Mexico and grew up in New York City. Son of the late, great composer Chico O'Farrill, Arturo was Educated at Manhattan School of Music, Brooklyn College Conservatory and the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. He played piano in Carla Bley's Big Band from 1979 through 1983 and earned a reputation as a soloist in groups led by Dizzy Gillespie, Steve Turre, Freddy Cole, Lester Bowie, Wynton Marsalis and Harry Belafonte.
