According to Deadline, Tony winner Billy Porter is currently in talks to join Barry Levinson's The Humbling. The film features a script by Buck Henry, Michal Zebede and Levinson, and will star Al Pacino, Greta Gerwig, Diane Wiest and Mandy Patinkin. It will focus on " a famous stage actor in decline who is revived when he retires to his upstate New York farmhouse and takes up with a much younger woman."

Porter is a graduate of the Carnegie Mellon University College of Fine Arts with a B.F.A in Drama. He also holds a certification from The Professional Program in Screenwriting at UCLA. Porter's solo musical career includes two studio albums, Billy Porter released by A&M Records in 1997 and At the Corner of Broadway + Soul in 2005 which was released by Sh-K-Boom Records. He was also featured in a number of songs in the tribute album It's Only Life: The Songs of John Bucchino which was released in 2006 on PS Classics and in Adam Guettel's album Myths and Hymns on Nonesuch Records.
