Comedy superstar Billy Crystal will follow his Tony-winning one-man show 700 Sundays with a book covering much of the same material.

Published by Warner Books, the memoir will be released on October 31st with a list price of $21.95 (now available for pre-order on Amazon at $14.93).  As described on the site, the book 700 Sundays is a "heartfelt story of family, heroes, and a life led in celebration of both with the same emotional appeal."  It recounts how "To support his family, Bily Crystal's father, Jack, worked two jobs and long hours and could only spare Sundays to spend with his loved ones. These formative and favorite days were in limited supply, however, as Crystal's father was stopped short by a heart attack when his son was 15. 700 Sundays refers to a sadly precise measurement of time shared by an adoring father and a devoted son. This delightful, autobiographical journey is sure to elicit tears and laughter from readers everywhere."

The winner of a 2005 Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event,
as well as a Drama Desk Award nomination and Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Solo Performance, and a Drama League Distinguished Performance Award nomination, 700 Sundays closed on June 12th after having extended its sell-out run for a week.  The show opened on November 12th, 2004, and played 21 previews and 164 regular performances.  700 Sundays was written by Crystal with additional content by Alan Zweibel, directed by Des McAnuff, and produced by Janice Crystal, Larry Magid and Face Productions.  A national tour and West End transfer are reportedly in the works as well.

Crystal, in addition to starring in such films as Analyze That, Analyze This, Monsters Inc., Deconstructing Harry, Hamlet, Forget Paris, When Harry Met Sally and The Princess Bride, has been a top comedy writer for decades.  In addition, he has penned such screenplays as Mr. Saturday Night and America's Sweethearts, and has hosted eight Academy Awards ceremonies (he also contributed material to several of them).
