Acclaimed stage and film actor Billy Crudup, who received a Tony Award nomination for his performance in The Pillowman, will be seen in three high-profile upcoming films--the Robert DeNiro-directed The Good Shepherd, the Tom Cruise vehicle Mission: Impossible 3 and the ensemble movie Trust the Man.

Crudup will be available to devote himself entirely to the film projects on September 18th, the day that Martin McDonagh's thriller closes.  He will complete filming The Good Shepherd, a Universal and Morgan Creek release that marks DeNiro's second film as a director; the latter star will also act in it.  According to IMDB, the film traces "the history of over 40 years in the CIA, told through the eyes of James Wilson (Matt Damon), one of its founding officers."  It will be released on December 22nd, 2006.

Crudup will then move on to commence filming Mission: Impossible 3, the latest film in the hit action franchise starring Cruise.  Directed by J.J. Abrams, it will feature a star-studded cast that also includes Ving Rhames, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Keri Russell; the film is set for release on May 2nd, 2006.  Crudup has finished filming Trust the Man, which will be shown at the Toronto Film Festival on September 8th and also stars Julianne Moore, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ellen Barkin and David Duchovny.

Crudup also received a Tony Award nomination for the revival of The Elephant Man.  His other Broadway credits include Three Sisters, Bus Stop and Arcadia, and he has performed in a Shakespeare in the Park production of Measure for Measure.  On screen, he has appeared in Stage Beauty, Big Fish, World Traveler, Waking the Dead, Jesus' Son, Inventing the Abbotts, Everyone Says I Love You and Sleepers; he also leant his voice to Princess Mononoke.
