Green day frontman and AMERICAN IDIOT composer Billie Joe Armstrong wowed crowds and made a major return to the stage following his recent stint in rehab and onstage meltdown at a Las Vegas concert last year with a live Green Day last night in Pomona, California.

Extending his guitar high into the air, Armstrong defiantly smiled as he took in the overwhelming response from the rapt audience (pictured).

Launching into an encore of two showstoppers from Green Day's celebrated AMERICAN IDIOT (and 21st CENTURY BREAKDOWN) album(s) and subsquent stage musical, "Jesus Of Suburbia" and "American Idiot", Green Day once again staked their claim as a rock band still at the very top of their game, with a lead singer and head songwriter visibly back on track.

Green Day recently released not one, but three new albums - a concept album trilogy titled !UNO!, !DOS!, !TRE! - but Armstrong's rehab stint put a pause on promotional touring plans in support of those releases. Until now.

Also, could a new Broadway show based on the concept album trilogy be not too far away? Time will tell!

Given Green Day's strong showing in Pomona, a true tour seems more than likely! Ole!
