Bill W. and Dr. Bob will conclude its 18-week Off-Broadway engagement at New World Stages (Stage 2 at 340 West 50th Street) on Sunday, June 10 following the 3pm matinee, it has been announced by the play's producers.
Bill W. and Dr. Bob -- the first-ever play about Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith, the founders of Alcoholics Anonymous -- will have played 21 previews and 111 regular performances when it ends on June 10. The play began previews February 16, 2007 and opened on March 5.
Written by Stephen Bergman and Janet Surrey, Bill W. and Dr. Bob will have played 21 previews and 111 performances when it closes on June 10.
The production will continue to hold post-show Talk-Backs through May. The next scheduled Talk-Back will be best-selling medical novelist Samuel Shem - author of "The House of God," "Fine," and "Mount Misery" on Thursday, May 17th.
The play depicts, according to press materials, "the relationship between Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith and the early days of Alcoholics Anonymous, a rich, provocative dramatization of what remains one of the most enduring, if unlikely, success stories in American history." Bill W. and Dr. Bob is directed by Rick Lombardo, who directed the play's sold-out engagement earlier this year at New Repertory Theatre in Boston.
Performances will run Tuesdays through Fridays at 8 p.m.; Saturdays at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sundays at 3 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $66, all seats, all performances.
