Comedian, best-selling author, talk show host, and political commentator BILL MAHER is coming to Wharton Center for a one-night-only, Saturday, October 10, 2015. Tickets go on sale February 20th at 10:00 a.m. and will be available at the official source to purchase Wharton Center tickets online, whartoncenter.com, at the Auto-Owners Insurance Ticket Office, and by calling 1-800- WHARTON.
For the last eighteen years, Bill Maher has set the boundaries of where funny, political talk can go on American television. First on Politically Incorrect (Comedy Central, ABC, 1993-2002), and for the last seven years on HBO's Real Time, Maher's combination of unflinching honesty and big laughs have garnered him twenty-one Emmy nominations.
In October of 2008, this same combination was on display in Maher's uproarious and unprecedented swipe at organized religion, Religulous, directed by Larry Charles ("Borat"). The documentary has gone on to become the 7th highest grossing documentary ever. His book, The New Rules, spent over two months on the New York Times Bestseller list and became so popular that a follow-up, The New New Rules, hit bookstores in 2011. With a television career that spans decades and a host of film credits to his name, Bill Maher has changed the game on political commentators and the power they hold in the media. His talk at Wharton Center will be one many won't soon forget.
