Real life issues involving real life feminism were not commonly seen on New York stages when Gretchen Cryer burst onto the scene in 1978 with the Public Theater's premiere of I'M GETTING MY ACT TOGETHER AND TAKING IT ON THE ROAD. Based on her own experiences in the music industry, Cryer not only wrote the book and lyrics (partnered with composer Nancy Ford), but starred in the hit production herself. I'M GETTING MY ACT TOGETHER returned to New York in 2013, in an Encores! Off-Center production starring HAMILTON's Renée Elise Goldsberry.
Cryer is also known for her work as a teacher, having taught acting and scriptwriting courses at her alma mater, DePaux University and at Colorado College. Charitybuzz is now hosting an on-line auction for three private one-hour classes with Gretchen Cryer in either acting or writing, held in New York.
The winning bid will benefit the Global Water Challenge. Founded in 2006, GWC works to raise awareness on global water challenges and shine a light on effective solutions across developing world markets.
