Sh-K-Boom Records is now accepting pre-orders for the original cast recording of Michael John LaChiusa's Bernarda Alba. The album will be officially released on the company's Ghostlight Records label on July 11th.

The album was recorded on March 27th. Bernarda Alba, with music, lyrics and book by LaChiusa (See What I Wanna See, The Wild Party, Marie Christine), opened at Lincoln Center's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theatre on March 6th and ran thorugh April 9th. Adapted from the play The House of Bernarda Alba by Federico García Lorca, the show featured direction and choreography by Graciela Daniele (Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life, Marie Christine).

The album is produced by Kurt Deutsch and Joel Moss.

Bernarda Alba "is the Story of a newly-widowed mother (played by Tony Award-winner Phylicia Rashad), who enforces her iron will on her large household, only to have her daughters (played by Nikki M. James, Sally Murphy, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Saundra Santiago) overwhelm her tyranny."

The cast of the show also featured Yolande Bavan, Candy Buckley, Laura Shoop and Nancy Ticotin. Bernarda Alba boasted sets by Christopher Barreca, costumes by Toni Leslie-James, lighting by Stephen Strawbridge, orchestrations by Michael Starobin and musical direction by Deborah Abramson.
