Bernadette Peters To Guest on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' 10/16

On October 16th, 2008 Bernadette Peters will be dropping by "Live With Regis and Kelly" to talk about her new Lifetime movie "Living Proof" and her ongoing efforts with "Broadway Barks". The show begins at 9AM EST.

One of Broadway's brightest stars, Peters received both the Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for her critically-acclaimed performance in Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical Song and Dance. She garnered Tony nominations for her memorable performance as Momma Rose in Sam Mendes' critically-acclaimed revival of Gypsy. "Bernadette Peters is a revelation!" Ben Brantley of The New York Times declared of her star turn in the show. Peters also received Tony nominations for her work in the 1992 musical The Goodbye Girl; Stephen Sondheim's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Sunday in the Park With George; the Jerry Herman/Gower Champion ode to the movies, Mack and Mabel; and the Leonard Bernstein/Comden and Green musical On The Town. In addition to these honors, Peters earned a Drama Desk nomination for her memorable portrayal of the Witch in Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods.

"Living Proof" is based on Robert Bazell's book and centers on Dennis Slamon (Connick, Jr.), the UCLA doctor who developed the breast cancer drug Herceptin. In addition to Peters the film features Swoosie Kurtz, Harry Connick, Jr, Angie Harmon, Amanda Bynes, Regina King, Jennifer Coolidge, Trudie Styler, Tammy Blanchard, John Benjamin Hickey and Paula Cale.  Renee Zellweger, Neil Meron and Craig Zadan ("Chicago"), and screenwriter Vivienne Radkoff ("Tempted," "The Agency") are the executive producers.  Dan Ireland ("Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont," "Passionata") directs from a script written by Vivienne Radkoff ("Tempted," "The Agency"). The film premieres during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month as the centerpiece of Lifetime's 14th annual multi-platform Stop Breast Cancer for Life public service and advocacy campaign, which reaches women and families in more than 96 million homes across the country in partnership with the Network's cable affiliates, advertising sponsors and twelve leading nonprofit organizations.
