On Friday, March 23rd, The Budos Band, The Headlocks and Tali will "rock the house" at the Music Hall at Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden all with one goal in mind – raising money to ensure the success of the young people served by New York Center for Interpersonal Development (NYCID).
"NYCID is thrilled to offer an opportunity for our community to enjoy a wonderful musical event together filled with good friends and camaraderie amongst our fellow neighbors. This benefit concert helps to ensure that there are resources for NYCID to continue offering programs that encourage our young people to stay on track and become the future leaders we expect them to become," said Executive Director Dominick Brancato.
NYCID teaches young people skills that are crucial to helping them grow and succeed – decision-making techniques, conflict resolution and anger management – through programs such as Achievement in Career & Education (ACE); the Staten Island Young Adult Borough Center (YABC); Graduate, Prepare & Succeed at Port Richmond H.S.; the Advantage After-School Program at Port Richmond and McKee high schools; and Olympus Academy (a transfer high school located in Canarsie, Brooklyn). NYCID's programs also offer critical supportive services such as tutoring, counseling, internships and career preparation.
"Selecting the right venue is always a key component of the success of a fundraising event," says Brancato. "Snug Harbor is a jewel in our borough, and we are thrilled to be able to use the 120-year-old Music Hall. Additionally, we are extremely grateful to Snug Harbor for opening their doors to our community of supporters and the young people we serve. "
Lynn B. Kelly, President & CEO of Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden, said, "Snug Harbor is excited about hosting this unique benefit concert and exposing the young people of our borough to great history, beautiful grounds and cutting edge entertainment."
Teacher and member of The Budos Band, Vincent Balestrino, is thrilled to be part of this event commenting, "The Budos Band is both delighted and honored to perform a benefit that directly supports education and the youth of Staten Island."
"The programs this concert will benefit are necessary and important. I work with kids who are not working and out of school. They come through our doors looking for a chance to prove themselves; to become something, and to ultimately work their way out of their circumstances," said Frank Duffy, a Job Developer at NYCID and member of the planning committee for the event.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the following link: http://nycidbenefitconcert.eventbrite.com. For more information, call Mary Castellana at NYCID at (718) 947-4133.
