Laura Benanti has just revealed via Twitter that her CBS pilot, Open Books," on which her Gypsy co-star Patti LuPone was allegedly to guest star, has been cancelled.  She tweets: "open books" is officially not happening :-(.

It was expected that former stage mother-daughter duo, Patti LuPone and Laura Benanti would play a tough mother/daughter on the show.

Benanti was to star as June, a book editor in New York at a specialty publishing house. The show was to be procued by WBTV and Gail Lerner, producer of the hit television show "Will and Grace."

The reason for the cancellation has not yet been revealed.  No word as to what comes next for Benanti.  LuPone has been touring with her concert, Matters of the Heart.
