Beloved Plus-Size Vintage Shop Re/Dress Is Trying to Make a Comeback

By: Mar. 21, 2013

The Boerum Hill plus-size vintage boutique Re/Dress closed at the end of 2011 to the dismay of it's cult followers. But, fear not, like all trends, the store may be making a comeback!

Re/Dress' original owner, Deb Malkin, sold the company to Rachel Kacenjar who is now looking to reopen the shop through an Indeigogo campaign. Her funding goal is $25,000 to cover some costs of the store's online relaunch by April 1 in the hopes of reopening a brick-and-mortar location.

So far, she's raised $17,369 with 8 days left! Rachel explains: "To do this thing the way I want to, I'll need a lot more than $25k, but I'm super-resourceful and am starting small in hopes that we can fund ourselves well enough to really have a kick-butt site launch and garner enough revenue to complete the whole shebang by 2014."

Rachel's plans for Re/Dress include more inventory and to increase the store's size range up to 5x. She also hopes to add a "vast assortment of 'masculine' clothing and accessories for folks who dress in flavors other than feminine." Lastly, after the site gets up and running, she wants to open a new store location in a spot that's not yet determined.

Head to the Indiegogo page to contribute before April 1!
