Believe Theatrical to Host One Night Premiere Reading of Michael Walker and Susan Gomes' THE FOLLOWER, 12/8

On December 8th, Believe Theatrical will host the first public reading of Michael Walker (Price Check) and Susan Gomes' newest screenplay, The Follower at the Pater Jay Sharp Theater, 416 West 42 nd Street. Paul Schnee will direct the stellar NYC cast to be led by Kate McClure (Fall to Rise), Catherine Curtin (Orange is the New Black), and Vanessa Vache (The Gyre) and will include Ann Carr (Louie), Josh Davis (Game Theory), Rob Bradford (Drinking Games), Katy Wright-Mead (The Knick), among others.

Michael Walker made his feature filmmaking debut with the Lions Gate release of Chasing Sleep starring Jeff Daniels. His film, Price Check starring Parker Posey premiered at Sundance 2012 to rave reviews and his latest film, The Maids Room is a psychological thriller that explores the complex relationship between truth, justice, power, wealth and fear. The film had its US release summer 2014. Walker partnered with Gomes to write The Follower. This is her first screenplay. She was formerly a copywriter in magazine publishing and advertising and she now owns Witch Candy, a retailer of bespoke yarn.

The Followertakes place in suburban Westchester, NY where the circle of housewives is as venomous as it is exclusive. Bored and restless by the Stepford-esque scene, our unlikely hero, Lousie (Kate McClure) begins to follow a mysterious new woman in town. What begins as a harmless game of eye-spy soon leads Louise into a web of international crime and much moreadventure than she had hoped to find.

December 8th completes the second year of Believe Theatrical's staged reading series, which included Rebecca Gilman's screenplay adaptation of her award winning,Blue Surgeand John Cariani'sLove/Sick. There will be a pre-reading open bar reception at 6:30pm. The performance will begin at 7:00p followedby a short Q/A in the theater and an open bar in the theater lobby.
