Conceived and written by Shaiman (six weeks later than he shoulda-he states in the video credits), the Tony Winning composer of Hairspray, the starry three-minute video was directed and staged by Hairspray film director Adam Shankman. The video is full of that classic Shaiman wit and wisdom, not to mention some zippy melodies too!

The hilarious video has star power to spare, many well known faces from the stage and screen join in on the musical mayhem, the cast is as follows, The "California Gays and The People That Love Them" are played by Jordan Ballard, Margaret Cho, Barrett Foa, J.B. Ghuman, John Hill, Andy Richter, Maya Rudolph, Rashad Naylor and Nicole Parker.

The passionate "Proposition 8'ers and The People That Follow Them" include John C. Reilly as Prop 8 Leader; Allison Janney as Prop 8 Leader's #1 Wife; Kathy Najimy as Prop 8 Leader's #2 Wife; Jenifer Lewis as Riffing Prop 8'er; Craig Robinson as A Preacher; and Rashida Jones, Lake Bell and Sarah Chalke as Scary Catholic School Girls From Hell.

Jesus Christ is played by comic film star Jack Black with Neil Patrick Harris making a splash as the Very Smart Fellow.

Katharine "Kooks" Leonard (of Johnny n' Kooks fame), Seth Morris, Denise "Esi!" Piane, Lucian Piane, Richard Read, Seth Redford, Quinton Strack and Tate Taylor show up as The Frightened Villagers.

Shaiman, Shankman and Mike Farah produced the video. Drew Antzis and Bradly Schulz edited the video production.
