On Thursday, April 27th, cast members from Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST on Broadway will kick off the U. S. Postal Service's commemorative stamp dedication celebrating The Art of Disney: Romance stamp featuring Belle and the Beast from the Disney animated film.

With help from some of Walt Disney's famous animated characters, four stamps illustrate the theme of romance. U.S. Postal Service art director Terrence W. McCaffrey joined with a Disney team including artist Peter Emmerich and creative director Dave Pacheco to create four stamps that feature Cinderella and Prince Charming; Beauty and the Beast; Lady and Tramp; and Mickey and Minnie Mouse. This is the third stamp pane honoring the art of Disney to be issued by the U.S. Postal Service. The first, issued in 2004, was on the theme of friendship. The second, issued in 2005, focused on celebrations.

The dedication ceremony will begin at 10:30am at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street). The event is free of charge and open to the public. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST's Ashley Brown (Belle) and Steve Blanchard (Beast) will perform at the dedication ceremony. Also on hand for the ceremony will be artist Peter Emmerich, NY Manager of Post Office Operations John Hargett and 12 year old singer Lauren Dash.

Guests will have the opportunity to witness the unveiling of this commemorative stamp and receive a pictorial cancellation.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is Broadway's longest running American musical and the 6th longest running musical of all time. Seen in 13 countries, the total worldwide attendance for Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST stands at more than 25 million people, making it one of the world's most-seen musicals.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST currently stars Steve Blanchard as the Beast, Ashley Brown as Belle, Grant Norman as Gaston, and, beginning on May 9th, "All My Children" star Jacob Young in his Broadway debut as Lumiere.

The performance schedule for Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street) is as follows: Tuesday at 7:00 PM, Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00 PM, with matinees Wednesday and Saturday at 2:00 PM, Sunday at 3:00 PM.
