Tony-nominated playwright Douglas Carter Beane (The Little Dog Laughed, As Bees in Honey Drown) will be featured on this Friday's "Theater Talk."
In the show, Beane will explain "why he is devoting his extensive talents to transforming the 1980 disco-fantasy-flop film, Xanadu, into a a camp musical comedy for Broadway (now in previews at The Helen Hayes Theatre)," according to press materials.
Also on Friday's show, Jesse Green of the New York Times, Michael Musto of The Village Voice and Patrick Pacheco of NY1 will join Michael Riedel and Susan Haskins to discuss last weekend's Tony ceremony and make suggestions on how the annual awards' broadcast could be improved in the future.
This episode of "Theater Talk" premieres Friday, June 15 at 12:30 AM on Thirteen (repeating there Monday, June 18 at 5 AM). It will be re aired 5 times the following weekend on CUNY TV (channel 75 in NYC): Saturday, June 23 at 8:30 PM; Sunday, June 24 at 12:30 PM and Monday, June 25 at 7:30 AM, 1:30 PM and 7:30 PM.
