The stories and pictures of the recent earthquake to hit the country of Haiti have been shown around the world and the devastation is clearly evident. As the world rallies around this island nation, local community leaders have banded together to organize a special HAITIAN BENEFIT CONCERT to be held at the Bay Street Theatre to raise money for earthquake victims.
On Saturday, January 30th bring friends and family to Bay Street for a HAITIAN BENEFIT CONCERT organized by Suffolk County Legislator Jay Schneiderman and other local political and community leaders. The concert will feature performances by several bands including Dan Bailey's "Living Rhythm" bringing its own style of roots reggae and drums to the stage. The show will start at 8pm and a suggested donation of $25 will be accepted at the door starting at 7:30pm. 100% of all proceeds from the evening will benefit Haitian victims. All monies will be donated through the charity YÉLE HAITI. Yéle Haiti, a grassroots movement to build awareness of Haiti, was founded in 2005 by Grammy-Award winning musician Wyclef Jean. Additional details will be posted at www.baystreet.org as they become available.
Due to the recent addition of this special benefit to Bay Street's schedule, CAROLE LOMBARD NIGHT at THE PICTURE SHOW will be cancelled for Saturday, January 30th. In addition, there will be no Jam Session on Thursday, January 28th. THE JAM SESSION will return on Thursday, February 4th at 7pm. On Friday, January 30th, THE PICTURE SHOW, sponsored in part by Reilly Windows & Doors, will feature "My Man Godfrey" at 8pm. Tickets are $5 and doors open at 7:30.
