Bay Street Theatre is pleased to announce auditions for the upcoming production of LITERATURE LIVE! presenting THE MIRACLE WORKER. The production will be directed by Murphy Davis, Bay Street Theatre's Artistic Director. Auditions will be held on October 9 and 12, 2010. Actors choosing to audition for the role of Helen Keller will be seen on Saturday, October 9 from 10 am - 2 pm at the Petrie Center (Parrish Art Museum) located on 25 Jobs Lane in Southampton, NY. For the role of Helen, the theatre is seeking an actress age 12+ who can play a young girl of approximately 10 years of age. Hearing impaired children are encouraged to audition. A signing interpreter will be available at the auditions. Audition sides for hearing impaired actors will be available at the Bay Street Theatre Box Office 48 hours prior to the audition.

Auditions will also be held on Tuesday, October 12 from 11 am until 3 pm, for the roles of Kate Keller (age 30-40), Captain Keller (age 40-50) and Aunt Ev (age 60-70) at Bay Street Theatre on the Corner of Bay and Main Street in Sag Harbor. Audition sides will be available for these roles at 10 am on October 12.

Contracts for the actors will be an AEA TYA contract with weekly salary, health and pension benefits. Bay Street Theatre is an equal opportunity employer.
Sponsored in part by Target, LITERATURE LIVE! presents full theatrical productions, complete with professional actors, sets, wardrobe and props-everything for which Bay Street is already well known. The differentiating factor is that this program focuses on literary works that fall within the core curriculum in schools, as well as being of interest to the public at large. In addition, each LITERATURE LIVE! selection will serve as a launching point for discussion with study guides offered to teachers prior to the performances, as well as Q&A sessions following each show for both students and adults alike.

While LITERATURE LIVE! is designed with middle and high school age students, their teachers and administrators in mind, it is also a great show for families and other groups such as seniors, churches, and temples who may wish to attend. Weekday performance times will vary. All tickets are $10 for students and chaperones. November 12, 13, 19 and 20 performances are at 7pm. Tickets for these performances are $10 for students and $15 for adults.

All tickets are available by calling the Box Office at 631-725-9500. For a complete listing of Bay Street events, go to www.baystreet.org. Or visit the Box Office, located on the Long Wharf in Sag Harbor, open daily Wednesday thru Sunday, from 11am till 6pm.
