This won't be the Rodgers and Hammerstein Cinderella, however, but rather an English pantomime version at London's New Wimbledon Theatre. The show, presented by First Family Entertainment (a partnership between Clear Channel Entertainment and the Ambassador Theatre Group), will run from December 9th to 23rd, and Barrowman joins a cast that already includes Susan Hampshire, Richard Wilson, Naomi Wilkinson and Peter Duncan. The musical is a cousin of the pantomime, where songs, spectacle and broad comedy (often in the form of its man-as-a-woman "dame") mingle warmly. Barrowman was recently cast alongside Rob Lowe in the West End debut of A Few Good Men; the show will start previews on August 18th. In 2003, he reprised his star-making turn as Billy Crocker in the
National Theatre's production of Anything Goes; he had originally made
his West End debut in the role opposite Elaine Paige in 1989. His many
West End credits includeGrease!, The Phantom of the Opera, The Fix, Hair, Aspects of Love, Miss Saigon, Beauty and the Beast and Chicago, and he has appeared in the States in two Sondheim shows--Broadway's Putting It Together and as Bobby in Company
at the Kennedy Center. Barrowman has appeared on TV on "Central Park West,"
and "Titans," and currently plays Captain Jack on the BBC series "Dr.
Who." Recently seen in the movie musical, De-Lovely, he will appear as the Lead Tenor Stormtrooper in the upcoming film version of The Producers.
