Popular Broadway, West End, TV and film performer John Barrowman strikes out against those who have taken to Twitter to criticize his homosexual lifestyle and recent marriage in fiery comments recently revealed by the triple-threat thespian.
Following his recent announcement of taking marriage vows with long-time partner Scott Gill in the US on July 13, Barrowman reportedly received a barrage of "outrageously vile" comments and complaints from internet posters, as well as the usual, expected congratulatory messages to the fresh newlyweds, as well.
Barrowman describes the situation - the negative feedback and outright online attacks on his character included - in a new interview.
So, how does Barrowman wrap his head around it all? "I don't get it," he says incredulously.
Illuminating further, Barrowman reveals, "Some of the comments were outrageously vile. Quoting lines from the Bible.I won't tolerate it. People like that are banned on my Twitter account. I tell them to f**k off."
As for Barrowman's own beliefs and people's right to an opinion, he relates, "People have a right to their beliefs but it doesn't mean they have to be nasty and deny other people their human rights. The world is not going to change and fall apart because a gay couple got married. It's a way for us to celebrate our love. That's it."
