The
Broadway and Cabaret communities of New York City are joining together
for HeartSong: The Concert for New Orleans, a benefit performance to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina. The
event will be held on Sunday, October 16 at Symphony Space (Broadway
& 95th Street, New York City) at 7:00pm.
Performers headlining the concert include: Karen Akers, Brent Barrett, Bryan Batt, Judy Blazer, Charles Busch, Ann Hampton Callaway, Liz Callaway, Jim Caruso, Rick Crom, Baby Jane Dexter, Boyd Gaines,
Rita Gardner, Julie Gold, Kitty Carlisle Hart, Steve Hayes, Christopher
Jackson, Rick Jensen, Lina Koutrakos, Steven Lutvak, Heather MacRae,
Andrea Marcovicci, Karen Mason, Laurel Massé, Sally Mayes, Andrea McArdle, Sharon McNight, Donna Murphy, Mark Nadler, Marnie Nixon, Lee Roy Reams, Sandra Reaves-Phillps, Steve Ross, Janis Siegel,
Marilyn Sokol, Brett Somers, Billy Stritch, KT Sullivan, and Julie
Wilson. The Musical Coordinator for the concert is Alex Rybeck
The specific charities chosen to be recipients of benefit monies are
the Contemporary Art Center in New Orleans, HeartSong Performing
Artists Fund and The Andy Kruzich/HeartSong Animal Fund of The Greater
New Orleans Foundation. The Contemporary Art Center in New
Orleans/HeartSong Performing Artists Fund has been created to
financially assist professionals in the New Orleans entertainment
industry; performers whose lives are at a complete stand-still in the
wake of Hurricane Katrina's devastation.
