Music and screen star Barbra Streisand was honored on Friday night at the Grammy's MusiCares event, where ET's Nancy O'Dell spoke to her about GLEE's interpretations of her songs and asked if she would ever consider appearing on the show.
"Not if I can help it," Barbra said. "I have seen some of the episodes. My niece, my young niece saw 'Funny Girl' on DVD and said, 'How come you're singing so many songs from 'Glee'?'"The popular FOX series has used a few of Streisand's songs in previous episodes. Lea Michele performed some for the show and also performed a tribute to Streisand at the event."She's pretty good," Streisand told O'Dell.Besides her fame in the entertainment industry, Streisand has come to be recognized for her strong political views, though she says she would never run for office.Streisand has appeared on Broadway in I CAN GET IT FOR YOU WHOLESALE and FUNNY GIRL. Her film work includes FUNNY GIRL, FUNNY LADY, YENTL, and NUTS. She has won numerous awards including the Oscar, Grammy, and Emmy awards. Her first book, "My Passion for Design: A Private Tour" debuted on the NYT Bestseller List. Barbra's 63rd album, "Love Is The Answer" was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), just months after debuting at #1 on the Billboard Charts. This brings the number of gold albums awarded to Barbra to 51. Additionally, Barbra is the recipient of 30 platinum albums and 13 multi-platinum albums. A DVD recording of Barbra Streisand's performance at the Village Vanguard on September 26, 2009 was released last May.
