Showbiz411's Roger Friedman reports exclusively that Barbra Streisand attended a reading this past week in Hollywood for a new script that may turn into her next directing venture. The film is a yet-to-be titled loved story which follows the relationship between photographer Margaret Bourke White and writer Erskine Caldwell.

The project has thus far had a "long painful history," but with a new script, Friedman reports there is renewed hope that it will finally get off the ground. The film would mark Streisand's first return to helming a motion picture since 1996's The Mirror Has Two Faces, in which she starred opposite Jeff Bridges.

Streisand has appeared on Broadway in I CAN GET IT FOR YOU WHOLESALE and FUNNY GIRL. She has also received a special Tony Award. Her film work includes FUNNY GIRL, FUNNY LADY, YENTL, and NUTS. A lauded performer, she has won numerous awards including the Oscar, Grammy, and Emmy awards.

Barbra's 63rd album, "Love Is The Answer," was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America(RIAA) just months after debuting at #1 on the Billboard Charts. Additionally, Barbra is the recipient of 30 platinum albums and 13 multi-platinum albums.

Back to Brooklyn is her eighth live album, which was released in the US on November 25, 2013. The album was recorded over two nights in October 2012 during the Barbra: Live tour stop, held at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
