The Laurie Beechman Theatre will welcome celebrated vocalist Barbara Brussell to its stage, for one special performance only on Sunday, August 20th at 4pm.

Inaugurating the theatre's series of brunch-time performances, Brussell will perform a show entitled 'The Quality of Mercer, and Other Huckleberry Friends.'

"In 'The Quality of Mercer,' Barbara continues to explore the life, loves and lyrics of Johnny Mercer. Also, the work of other great classic and contemporary songwriters is celebrated, among them: Richard Whiting, Christine Lavin, John Wallowitch, Sammy Cahn and a new song by Bacon & McElhone. Barbara will be accompanied by accomplished pianist/arranger, Tedd Firth," state press notes.

A 1997 recipient of a Backstage Bistro Award, and six time MAC Award nominee, Brussell has performed in major cabaret rooms in New York City and around the country. A recording of her critically acclaimed show, "Patterns," is available on CD at stores, her website and LMLMusic.com.  Other shows include "Love Makes the World Go Round," "The Michael 'Mickey' Leonard Songbook: Variations on a Theme," and "The Piano Bench of My Mind: Songs I've Been Sitting On For Far Too Long."  After a sold out debut evening at the Algonquin Hotel's Oak Room in January, and rave reviews at Danny's Skylight Room, "Almost Like Being In Love: The Lyrics of Alan Jay Lerner" was turned into a CD of the same name, which is currently available.

A special $45 ticket is available for a three-course brunch as well as the show. Show-only tickets are available for $20, plus a $15 food/beverage minimum. For reservations, please call 212.695.6909. The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located within the West Bank Café, 407 West 42nd St. (at Ninth Avenue).
