Ballet Next, New York's new independent ballet company founded by Michele Wiles and Charles Askegard, will present its second intimate choreographic exhibition featuring new and classical works in final stages of rehearsal with interactive audience discussions at Manhattan Movement & Arts Center on March 28 at 8:00 pm.
The exhibition will be broadcast live via web-simulcast on balletnext.com. Participants will include directors Michele Wiles and Charles Askegard, choreographer Margo Sappington and dancers Misty Copeland, Drew Jacoby, Yuriko Kajiya, Georgina Pazcoguin, and JarEd Matthews.
The program on March 28 will feature a new piece choreographed by Charles Askegard, set to Five Pieces for Piano and Violin by Vladimir Vlasov as well as Margo Sappington's newly expanded Entwined, which includes a new solo for Michele Wiles and a trio for Georgina Pazcoguin, Yuriko Kajiya, and JarEd Matthews to accompany the critically acclaimed pas de deux. The program will also feature La Follia, a duet created for Ballet Next in 2011 by Mauro Bigonzetti, featuring Michele Wiles and Drew Jacoby, and a selected suite of dances from Marius Petipa's Sleeping Beauty. Original scoring and live music will be performed by the Ballet Next Ensemble led by Ballet Next Music Director Elad Kabilio.
Moderated by Joan Quatrano, the live broadcast exhibition will feature an interactive question and answer session from in-theater and on-line audiences, commentary and candid discussions between dancers, choreographers and musicians. Audience members will be encouraged to ask questions directly of the artists and participate in discussions covering a range of topics including staging production, dance technique, choreography, musical score, partnering and interpretation.
