Ballet Hispanico & More Featured in Lincoln Center at the Movies Encore

Ballet Hispánico, the nation's preeminent Latino dance institution, will be featured in encore screenings of Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance, along with two of the other companies from the series' inaugural season this past fall, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and San Francisco Ballet.

Coming to more than 115 theaters nationwide on Tuesday, August 2 at 7:00 pm (local time) is Ballet Hispánico, led by Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro, with two audience favorites: CARMEN.maquia, an electrifying contemporary take on Bizet's passionate opera choreographed by Spaniard Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, and Club Havana, a virtuosic re-imagining of a sizzling nightclub by Cuban-born choreographer Pedro Ruiz. The film will include special behind-the-scenes interviews with the dancers and a glimpse of the company's rehearsals.

To enhance the Lincoln Center at the Movies experience for audiences of all ages, Lincoln Center Education has created interactive guides to accompany each Great American Dance screening. The guides are tailored for various audiences for use by: teachers, families with children, after-school programs, and lifelong learners. The guides use videos, readings, images, and participatory activities to provide information about each company and work, including historical context, music, choreography, and design, to encourage discussion prior to and after seeing the performance. Great American Dance presentations are filmed in HD by the Emmy Award-Winning production team from Live From Lincoln Center, helmed by Executive Producer Andrew C. Wilk. Ballet Hispánico's presentation for Great American Dance was directed for the screen by Matthew Diamond. The series is presented by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in partnership with Fathom Events.

Other dance companies featured in the series include Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater on July 26 and San Francisco Ballet on August 9.

Hailed as a "masterpiece" by the Chicago Sun-Times, this work-like Bizet's iconic opera about a passionate gypsy-is riveting from start to finish. The physically charged and sensual choreography fuses contemporary dance with nods to the Spanish paso doble and flamenco.
