The Middle School of the Arts Foundation has announced that the Bak Middle School of the Arts Advanced String Orchestra will perform at Carnegie Hall on March 29, 2013 through the Heritage Worldstrides Festival.

Under the direction of Mrs. Nancy Beebe, the Middle School students will be performing Serenade for Strings, Movement 1, by Tchaikovsky, "Air" from Suite No. 3 by J. S. Bach, Saison of Strings by Feese and Cincopations by Richard Meyer.

In addition to funding unique classroom supplies and instruments, funds raised by the Middle School of the Arts Foundation help fund the Artist in Residence Program. For the Bak Strings Department, part of the funding provided through the Foundation provides the opportunity for strings professionals to enrich the strings program by allowing students the opportunity to work with professional musicians in a homogenous group to improve their overall playing in regards to rhythms, bowings, fingerings, shifting and technique.

The mission of the Middle School of the Arts Foundation is to develop permanent resources to ensure world-class standards of excellence in arts and academics at Bak Middle School of the Arts, which serves all of Palm Beach County.

The Foundation's purpose is to identify and secure resources to meet needs beyond those that can be funded by the Palm Beach County School District. In keeping with the district's magnet goals, the Foundation provides funding and volunteer support for Bak's efforts to promote and expand diversity, improve achievement and focus on a unique arts curriculum. Bak MSOA serves over 1,350 students a year from across Palm Beach County.
