The 2010-11 season of New York Philharmonic Ensembles, which spotlights Musicians from the Orchestra, continues on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at Merkin Concert Hall with a program that features J.S. Bach's Cantata No. 51, Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen; Philharmonic bassist David J. Grossman's Mood Swings; Beethoven's Sextet in E-flat major, Op. 81b; and Brahms's String Quintet in G major.
The performers will be Duoming Ba, Soohyun Kwon, Hyunju Lee, Anna Rabinova, Na Sun, and Sharon Yamada, violin; Irene Breslaw, Dawn Hannay, and Peter Kenote, viola; Eric Bartlett, Qiang Tu, and Wei Yu, cello; David J. Grossman and Satoshi Okamoto, bass; Philip Myers and Howard Wall, horn; Philip Smith, trumpet; Joseph Alessi, trombone; Rebekah Kenote, † soprano; and Paolo Bordignon, † harpsichord.
Since 1984 the Philharmonic Ensembles series has presented diverse programming of both classical masterpieces and modern compositions. Ensembles concerts are also offered on the Orchestra's international and domestic tours, on separate chamber music tours, and at locations throughout New York City.
