The indomitable Baby Jane Dexter brings back her highly acclaimed show "The Real World," for four nights only at the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, as she celebrates the show's live recording release on Quannacut Records. The special encore engagement of "The Real World," with music director Ross Patterson on piano, plays two consecutive Fridays and Saturdays, July 8 & 9 and July 15 & 16, all at 7pm.

Hailed by many critics as her finest show to date, "The Real World" enjoyed a sold-out run in November and December. Recorded live, these shows were called "the real deal" by Frank Scheck in the NY Post.

This is Dexter's sixth CD. The winner several times over of the Triple Crown in cabaret - two Back Stage Bistro Awards; six MAC Awards; 2009 and 2010 Nightlife Awards - Dexter crafted "The Real World" with the Back Stage Bistro Award-winning Ross Patterson (her longtime arranger and musical director), and the Emmy-winning Elissa Patterson, her consulting director.

"The Real World's" eclectic song list includes gems by Billie Holiday, Janis Ian, Roy Orbison, John Sebastian, and Alec Wilder among others. Writing about "The Real World" in The New York Times, David Belcher said, "It is Ms. Dexter's legacy of incorporating unusual songs that has made her a trailblazer among contemporary nightclub singers." Writing previously in The NY Times Stephen Holden said Dexter's "booming pop contralto is one of the more formidable voices on the New York nightclub stage."

Baby Jane's "The Real World" performs four times on two consecutive Fridays and Saturdays as follows: Friday & Saturday July 8 & 9; July 15 & 16. All shows are at 7pm. The Metropolitan Room is located at 34 West 22nd Street (between 5th & 6th Avenues). There is a $25 music charge and a two-drink minimum.
