BWW Video Exclusive! The Understudies of 'Spelling Bee' Spell It Like It Is

What's it like being an understudy for the Tony Award-winning musical, "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee"? In this exclusive BroadwayWorld.com backstage video, Todd Buonopane, Kate Wetherhead, Lisa Yuen and Willis White "Spell It Like It Is." The video, which was shown live at the Ars Nova on July 25th for their Broadway Spotlight Series featuring understudies was created by Richard DiBella.
Please note: The video contains adult language. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee boasts music and lyrics by Finn (Falsettos, A New Brain), and a Tony Award-winning book by Rachel Sheinkin. Conceived by Rebecca Feldman and directed by James Lapine (Sunday in the Park with George, Falsettos), the show has broken all house records at Circle in the Square Theatre (50th St., between Broadway and 8th) and fills the theatre in excess of 100% capacity (including standing room) each week. In addition to Sheinkin, Fogler (who plays William Barfee) received a Tony Award for Featured Actor in a Musical. In the show, six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.
