BWW Video Exclusive: THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE's Cast & Creative Team Bring the Musical to Life Inside the Recording Studio!

The original cast album of the world premiere musical THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE from Ghostlight Records is now available in stores and online at iTunes here and other digital outlets. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you an exclusive featurette, titled "The Making of the Album," which includes interviews with the cast and creators on bringing the musical to life inside the recording studio!

The show, produced by The Public Theater, is based on the national best-selling novel of the same name by Jonathan Lethem, with a book by Itamar Moses, music and lyrics by Michael Friedman, and conceived and directed by Daniel Aukin. Time Out New York raved, "Michael Friedman's score draws excitingly on period sounds" and according to The New York Times, "the score flows in undulating rivers of soul, funk, punk and rap." Friedman is also writer of the musicals Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and Love's Labour's Lost, also produced at The Public Theater and available from Ghostlight Records. THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE has orchestrations by John Clancy, with additional orchestrations by Matt Beck. The 24-track, 70-minute recording was produced by Dean Sharenow and Kurt Deutsch. Joe's Pub at The Public Theater will celebrate the original cast album with a special concert on Monday, April 13 at 9:30 PM.
