This high definition and surround sound screening of Sondheim's Company will be followed by a LIVE Q&A with leading man Neil Patrick Harris, the American stage and screen star who plays the pivotal role of Robert. An Emmy-winning actor who received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in September, Harris will talk about the enduring appeal of Stephen Sondheim's work, and the experience of playing commitment-shy Robert in Company, a musical which won 6 Tony Awards when it first opened in 1970.
Company's plot revolves around Robert - a single man unable to commit fully to a steady relationship, let alone marriage - the five married couples who are his best friends, and his three girlfriends. Presented as a series of short vignettes linked by a celebration for Robert's 35th birthday, songs include Being Alive, Side by Side, The Ladies Who Lunch, Getting Married Today and Company.
Headlining the production are (in alphabetical order): Craig Bierko, Stephen Colbert, Jon Cryer, Katie Finneran, Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Hendricks, Aaron Lazar, Patti LuPone, Jill Paice, Martha Plimpton, Anika Noni Rose, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Jim Walton and Chryssie Whitehead. The New York Philharmonic is conducted by Sondheim specialist, Paul Gemignani.
