While the world's eyes focused on the Tony Awards in New York on Sunday June 13th, theatre patrons gathered in Los Angeles to watch the ceremony live via satellite and celebrate with Annette Bening in honoring Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell at the 14th Annual Tony Awards Benefit presented by The Actors Fund. Nine-time Tony winner Tommy Tune served as the evening's host.

The Actor's Fund (www.actorsfund.org) is a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment. The Fund is a safety net, providing programs and services for those who are in need, crisis or transition. Previous honorees of The Actor's Fund have included Julie Harris, Gwen Verdon, Charles Durning, Rita Moreno, James Earl Jones, Tyne Daly, Lauren Bacall, Stockard Channing, Carol Channing, Liza Minnelli, Jerry Herman, Tommy Tune and Chita Rivera.

BroadwayWorld was on hand for the event and is pleased to introduce LA-based reporter Matthew Rodrigues, who takes you onto the starry red carpet with LA's finest and inside the ballroom below.

Matthew Rodrigues was born in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. In 2000 he packed up to pursue acting in NYC. He was a student at Marymount Manhattan College and worked both at PBS and The View. It wasn't until he was chosen to give his graduation speech at Lincoln Center that Matthew realized he was better at just being himself than reciting monologues....and he wanted to be a bit more tan. So off to La La Land California. After 4 years of bit parts and home made video skits Matt got his first break in the last place he ever thought he would... Rhode Island! As one of the top three finalists to become the new host for The Rhode Show, Matt was finally given the opportunity to show off his hosting abilities. Since returning to LA he has become a regular on Red Carpet's interviewing Hugh Jackman, Eva Longoria, Alfred Molina, Viola Davis, Eddie Redmayne, Annette Bening, Teri Hatcher, Nathan Lane, Kelsey Grammer, Tommy Tune, Brian Stokes Mitchell and many more. Matt is looking forward to bringing his unique style to BroadwayWorld.com!
