It all started with Marc Oka (an Original Broadway Cast member) who decided to try and gather members of the casts of MISS SAIGON for a reunion. He went to URBO (a fantastic restaurant, bar and venue, in the heart of Times Square) and Manager, Benjamin Ickies, who is also a musician, and BOOM ... the night was born.
The response was overwhelming... so much so, that two gatherings were planned, in order to accommodate the schedules of all who wanted to attend. The first event proved to be overwhelmingly emotional for all who were there. The next one takes place later in September. The real thrills were in meeting the families and seeing so many children of cast members ... Some of them already off to college.
MISS SAIGON tells the tragic tale of young bar girl Kim, orphaned by war, who falls in love with an American GI called Chris - but their lives are torn apart by the fall of Saigon. The Broadway production opened on April 11, 1991 at the Broadway Theatre, where it played for 4092 performances. MISS SAIGON has Music by Claude-Michel Schönberg with Lyrics by Richard Maltby Jnr and Alain Boublil, adapted from Original French Lyrics by Alain Boublil with Additional Lyrics by Michael Mahler.
