TV: HGTV Designer John Gidding's 'WISHFUL' Carrie Fisher Dressing Room Redo

HGTV designer John Gidding created a special interior design for Carrie Fisher's Broadway dressing room at Studio 54. In celebration of Carrie's arrival on Broadway and John's fantastic design work BroadwayWorld.com was invited along for the ride as the room was transformed!

The Studio 54 dressing room while already suffused with character and history (past occupants include Natasha Richardson, Stockard Channing, Gabriel Byrne, Nathan Lane and Alan Cumming) - was completely re-imagined for Carrie. Based on John's conversations with Carrie, her dressing room was shaped to eclectic and artistic, with lots of attention given to glitter, color, light and neon jelly fish. Installations included a new floor and window coverings, plumbing, seating areas and custom-commissioned art and lighting pieces. To see an exclusive BWW Photo Special on the dressing room's fabulous new look click here!

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director), in association with Jonathan Reinis, Jamie Cesa, Eva Price & Berkeley Repertory Theatre, will present the Broadway premiere production ofWishful Drinking, created and performed by Carrie Fisher and directed by Tony Taccone at Studio 54 on Broadway (254 West 54th St).

Wishful Drinking began previews on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009 and will open officially on Sunday, October 4th, 2009 at Studio 54 on Broadway (254 West 54th St). This is a limited engagement through January 3rd, 2010. Alexander V. Nichols will provide scenic, lighting and projection design. In Wishful Drinking, Carrie Fisher recounts the true and intoxicating tale of her life as a Hollywood legend, told with the same wry wit she poured into bestsellers like Postcards fromThe Edge. The daughter of Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher became a cultural icon when she starred as "Princess Leia" in the first Star Wars trilogy at 19 years old. Forever changed, Carrie's life did not stay picture perfect. Fisher is the life of the party in this uproarious and sobering look at her Hollywood hangover.
