Tony Award Winning Actress Laura Benanti's NBC pilot, "Playboy Club" has been picked up by the network. Here's the first video tease from the show which will premiere on Monday night's this fall featuring Laura as Carol-Lynne, the very first 'Bunny'!
The Hollywood Reporter reports: "The drama revolves around working-class bunnies (Amber Heard, Jenna Dewan) and the men who love them (Eddie Cibrian) in the 1960s, where crooners, mob bosses, politicians and Chicago's elite play. The drama, a 20th TV and Imagine production, counts Chad Hodge (Runaway) and Brian Grazer (Lie to Me, Friday Night Lights) among its executive producers. The pilot was directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones). Working in its favor: name recognition - and a vast empire of products, print and reality series to remind viewers about the show."
During an earlier appearance on Sirus/XM's Live on Broadway show, Benanti discussed the fate of her upcoming NBC pilot, "Playboy Club"."I'm a waitress who wears a tail", Benanti joked to host Seth Rudetsky when asked to describe her character. "I play Carol-Lynne, based on the first Playboy Bunny ever, Bonnie Jo Halpin and I become the Bunny Mother of all the girls. It takes place in 1963 at The Chicago Club."
Benanti revealed that by May 16th, a date which falls between two engagements at Feinstein's, she would learn if the pilot will be picked up by the network. "So if you come to my show on May 1, I'll have glorious anticipation," quipped Benanti. "And if you come to my show on May 22, you'll either have to hold me while I cry or we can all celebrate together!"
