The latest installment begins the day after the Broadway opening of "Iron Dog," a gritty play starring AaRon Miller (Santino Fontana), the object of Penny Reilly's (Kate Wetherhead) neurotic affection. While the city buzzes in response to "Iron Dog"'s reviews, casting director Tim Trull (Colin Hanlon) and director Nolan Grigsby (Wade McCollum) begin their casting sessions for Grigsby's "Compass-ition" piece, with the help of Tim's assistant Gail (Lindsay Nicole Chambers) and his reader Randall (Jared Gertner.) Penny's roommate Raina (Asmeret Ghebremichael) drags Penny to a song interpretation class, and agent Steven Ferrell (Stephen Bienskie) gears up for a big promotion. Other guest stars include Annaleigh Ashford, Anne L. Nathan, EnRico Rodriguez, James Iglehart, and Kevin Pariseau. Max von Essen, Donna Vivino, Jeffrey Kuhn and Laura Jordan round out the cast. The episode will also feature the premiere of an original song, "Two Cents," by Jeff Blumenkrantz, sung by Broadway's Gavin Creel.
"Submissions Only" is a grassroots web sitcom that shows viewers what really goes on off stage. Following the friendship of two theater professionals, an actress (Kate Wetherhead as Penny Reilly) and a casting director (Colin Hanlon as Tim Trull), as they try to build careers in the notoriously tricky and often absurd world of Broadway theatrics, "Submissions Only" proves there's a whole lot of comedy in all the drama.
