BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge was thrilled to sit down and speak with nearly all of this year's Tony Award nominees at the official Tonys Meet & Greet on May 1, 2013, and we will be bringing you special coverage on all of them throughout the awards season. Today we bring you Valisia LeKae, a nominee for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Motown. Check out what she had to say below!

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, LeKae has been blessed to grace the Broadway stage in numerous productions such as The Book of Mormon, The Threepenny Opera, 110 in the Shade and Ragtime. Other New York credits include the John Denver musical, Almost Heaven, as well as many readings and workshops. Her portrayal of "Sarah" in the Drury Lane production of Ragtime garnered her a 2010 Joseph Jefferson Award and a Black Theatre Alliance nomination.

Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, MOTOWN: THE MUSICAL features a book by Berry Gordy and music and lyrics from the Motown legendary catalog, this exhilarating show tells the real story of the one-of-a-kind sound that hit the airwaves in 1959 and changed America forever. It charts Motown founder and Detroit native Berry Gordy's incredible journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross and The Supremes, Michael Jackson and The Jackson Five, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, Marvin Gaye and many more.
