Next Thing You Know, a new musical from the Drama Desk-nominated team of Joshua Salzman and Ryan Cunningham (I Love You Because) will be released today; Yellow Sound Label will release the studio cast recording. BroadwayWorld is excited to bring you an exclusive first look at the making of a song from the album in the video. Titled 'Little Bar on Sullivan Street,' the song features the talents of Lauren Blackman, Colin Hanlon, Jay Armstrong Johnson and Patti Murin, and you can check it out below!
Next Thing You Know was produced at CAP21 and The New York Times called it “A coming-of-age tale about struggling artists in the big city. A ‘Rent’ for this generation.”
The album features Lauren Blackman (A Tree Grows In Brooklyn), Colin Hanlon (Submissions Only, I Love You Because), Jay Armstrong Johnson (Hair, Catch Me If You Can) and Patti Murin (Lysistrata Jones) and is produced by Michael Croiter.
Next Thing You Know is the story of four New Yorkers as they laugh, love and drink their way through the big questions that face all young dreamers who wake up in the city that never sleeps. Does marrying a really nice guy mean you’re settling down or just settling? Does taking a nine-to-five equal giving up or growing up? Does a decade in the city break you down or break you in?
Drama critic David Hurst said of the young writing team, "Salzman and Cunningham write melodies that soar into the stratosphere with a voice that is undeniably distinctive, yet technically accomplished…it will be exciting to see what the wonderful new team of Salzman and Cunningham give us next."
