BroadwayWorld is proud to present the third webisode in our exclusive series "Betty's Back," which follows Betty Buckley on stage and off, as she entertains theatre lovers at Feinstein's at Loew's Regency. We know from the number of 'hits' that we've received on the site for the first two installments of "Betty's Back", that people were very interested in this new show, "Broadway by Request". As you know, BroadwayWorld TV was at the invited dress rehearsal, where we were allowed to shoot footage and, although we only planned on a two-parter, we decided that it would be unfair to hold this back. This is the last week of the show, which, from what we hear will have many drop in guests, and we decided to go with this final webisode, which is only one of many highlights in a truly exciting evening and special event engagement at Feinstein's. We don't consider this a 'spoiler,' we consider this a gift to you, the fans of BroadwayWorld.com and Betty Buckley.
Carrie, has a very special place in Broadway Musical Theatre history, as one of the biggest bombs ever staged. It was directed by Terry Hands of the Royal Shakespeare Company and It also featured choreography by Debbie Allen. It became such a cult classic, that there's even an entire book of Broadway flops, entitled 'Not Since Carrie' by Ken Mandelbaum, with a bloody Linzi Hateley on the cover. What you'll see here are Seth Rudetsky and Betty Buckley taking you on a journey from the film of Carrie, based on the Stephen King novel, to the musical with a story and a song that'll make your jaw drop.
Betty Buckley's "Broadway By Request" is now in its final week at Feinstein's running through March 7th. The shows are determined by requests from audience members, giving the evening an informal and fun spirit. And to keep up with the impromptu nature, Buckley says she has been "rehearsing everything I know - keep your fingers crossed!"
Seth Rudetsky is featured in the show and will be doing some of his famous "deconstructions," all pointed at the Broadway legend and the show was devised and directed by Richard Jay-Alexander, with Buckley and Rudetsky.
Buckley won a Tony Award for her performance as "Grizabella" in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats, a Tony Award nomination for her performance as "Hesione" in Triumph of Love, and an Olivier nomination for her interpretation of "Norma Desmond" in Sunset Boulevard.
"Betty's Back" is produced by James Sims and shot by Eddie Varley for BroadwayWorld. The series has spotlighted performance clips, candid interviews and much more as Buckley continues at Feinstein's.
